Esso Lexington - (1958-1973)
A New Look At Spare Parts
On board the "Esso Lexington".
Chief Engineer Francis R. Zeller and First Assistant William W. McKay check spare parls lists in the Chief’s
office, Esso Lexington.
Gaskets for various types of service and compartments containing steam line, cornpressor and miscelIaneous
equipment parts.
Racks of valves, a shelf for packing and compartmenls with contents neatly lettered on the aluminum
doors.
More valve racks and compartments, the latter containing pump and auxiliary equipment parts.
Valves, flange gaskets and bins of pipe fitings for high pressure-high temperature lines have a separate section
in the storage area to avoid being used where not required.
The old way. Crates, cartons and steel spare parts boxes which seem to weigh a “ton” when they have
to be lifted.
