Esso Paterson - (1942- 1961)

After discharging at Glasgow, Scotland in June 1943, the "Esso Paterson" is homeward bound, to load
cargo for the Mediterranean theater of War. She was launched as "Germantown".
Sold 11.1961: Converted to a partial containership/chemical carrier by Bethlehem Steel Co,
Baltimore, Md (9,141 grt, 14.438 tdw). Renamed "CARBIDE TEXAS CITY".
Scraped at Brownsville 21.05.1979.

1950 Sold privatly "Esso Paterson", Esso Shipping Company, Wilmington, Del., USA.
1960 "Esso Paterson", Humble Oil & Refining Co., Wilmington,Del., USA.
1962 "Carbide Texas City", Union Carbide Corp., New York  (operated by Marine Transport Lines, Inc.) ,
conv. by Bethlehem Steel Co., SB. Div., Baltimore to partial chemical tanker,
carrying containers in holds and on deck,  9,141 grt.
1979 Scrapped up at Brownsville 1979 by Brownsville Steel & Salvage,
work began 21.05.1979, completed 27.07.1979.

Sisterships are "Esso Gettysburg", "Esso Washington", "Esso Wilmington", "Esso Norfolk" and "Esso Manhattan".
