"Esso Florence" was build in 1954 by Newport News SB & DD Co., Newport News.

"Esso Florence".

"Esso Florence" became "Exxon Florence in 1973. Sold as "Florence" in 1982.

Stripped by 18.12.1998 at Suisun Bay - awaiting disposal.

The rusty hulk of the "Florence", a former US Navy reserve oiler, is towed from storage in Suisun Bay into San Francisco,

as the Hapag-Lloyd "Stuttgart Express" departs for Antwerp via Long Beach.

Originally built in 1954 as the "Esso Florence", current Navy records indicate the "Florence" is marked for scrapping.
