Esso Genova (1) - (1949-1963)

The first "Esso Genova (1)" was build in 1949 by Newport News S.B. & D.D. Co., Newport News,

for Panama Transport Co. 29000 Dwt. Renamed in 1963 as "Esso Bogota".

Scrapped in 1976.

"Esso Genova (1)", one of the tankers built in our plant ( Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company ),

is shown in a heavy sea during her maiden voyage.

As I had stated in the Guestbook post this is my ring. My Mother was swimming off Nantasket beach early in the mid fifties

when she saw this floating some distance away. In her early 20's she easily swam out to retrieve it. Her and my father brought

it home and hung it right there where you see it in the picture. It has hung from the same nail on that very spot for 65 years.
