Official no. : 211035. Oil tank barge built in 1913 by American Ship Building Co. at Lorain, Ohio for Standard Oil Co.
Originally named "S.O. Co. No. 85". Renamed "S.T. Co. No. 85" in 1916, "Socony 85" in 1918, "Gotham 85" in 1930,
and "Cleveco" in 1941, 1942 foundered in a snow storm about 9 miles from Cleveland, Ohio. Was determined a
hazard to deep draft ships and was moved 16 7/8 miles from the Cleveland East Entrance Light in 71 feet of water.

History

Foundered nine miles (8 degrees N 3/4 E) of Cleveland east pier, off Euclid Beach Park, OH, Lake Erie, December 3, 1942, with all hands; 4 lives lost. Tug ADMIRAL, towing her, also lost with all hands; eighteen lives lost in all. Hull raised in July, 1961, by North American Salvage Co. (J.R. King), of Bordentown, NJ, towed into deep water and scuttled.
