"Socony 18" was build in 1907 as "S.O. Co. No. 18". Renamed in 1915 as "" S.T. Co. No. 18".
Renamed in 1918 as "Socony 18". Sold in 1953 as "Esso Tug No. 3".

100' x 23' x 12'  175 gross tons.  16,17,18,19 were called the 'battleship tugs'.
These tugs served for 39 years when sold to Standard Oil New Jersey 29 jan 1946.
Then became Esso 1,2,3,4. this happened when Xocony decided to discontinue lighterage service in NY harbor.
