K-Sea's LINCOLN SEA (ex-S/R EVERETT) is an 8,000 BHP AT/B tug built for Mobil Oil Corp., US Fleets, then transferred
to Sea River Maritime after the Exxon-Mobil merger. She operated the first years of her life in New England, and currently
operates along the U.S. East Coast and the Gulf for K-Sea.
She works with the CT Marine-designed 140,000 BBL double hull product barge, ex-S/R NEW YORK.

This AT/B is equipped with the INTERCON connection system. The tug was built at J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding in Tacoma, WA,
and the barge at Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, WI. Of note is that during the severe winter of 2000/2001 in the Northeast, the
EVERETT/NEW YORK was not weatherbound even a single time. Powered by the reliable EMD 16-710 engine, the vessel
features Reintjes gears, Northern Lights generators, and a full SOLAS certification.
The tug is fully sound-insulated, and exceeds all USCG stability requirements by large margins, despite her height.
The accommodation is well-designed and outfitted, and the craftsmanship of the Martinac yard is evident. She took a solo
delivery voyage of over 6,000 NM from Tacoma to New York to pick up her new barge. On that long voyage, the tug rode
well, and comfortably. She is fully automated to ACCU-standard and is a near-sister to the Allied Towing tug SEAHAWK.

INFO :

S/R EVERETT

Built in 2000, by J.M. Martinac Shipyard of Tacoma, Washington (hull #241) as the ATB Mohawk for the Mobil Oil Corporation of New York, New York.
She is an ATLANTIC II Class Articulated Tug and Barge designed by Robert Hill of Ocean Tug and Barge, the Engineering.
When the Mobil Oil Corporation merged with Exxon to form SeaRiver Maritime of Houston, Texas. The ATB Mohawk was renamed as the ATB S/R Everett.
During the winter of 2001/2002 the S/R Everett along with the Nicole Leigh Reinauer (Operated by Reinauer Transportation Companies of Staten Island, New York (both units are ATLANTIC II Class ATB's) where the only two units supplying home heating oil to the Rhode Island area.
Due to constant and frequent winter storms that year, which would force other units "weather bound" the ATB Nicole Leigh Reinauer and the ATB S/R Everett could make the trip despite the weather which in some cases carried winds in excess of 50(knots) and seas of 20(ft).
The ATB S/R Everett and the ATB Nicole Leigh Reinauer never went weather bound once that winter.
After SeaRiver Maritime was dissolved. The ATB S/R Everett was laid up in various locations, such as New York, New York and Providence, Rhode Island.
In 2004, the unit was acquired by K-Sea Transportation Partnership of East Brunswick, New Jersey where she was renamed as the ATB Lincoln Sea.
The tug is powered by two EMD 16-710 main engines with Reintjes reduction gears turning two Rolls Royce new generation five bladed, fixed pitch propellers for a rated 8,000 horsepower.
Her electrical power is provided by two Northern Lights generators rated at 99kW. There is an additional Northern Lights generator rated 75kW dedicated to the INTERcon coupler system. The unit is fully SOLAS certified.
Her barge, originally named as the Seneca is a 140,000 bbl double hulled product barge that was constructed simultaneously at Bay Shipbuilding of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. The barge was designed by CT-Marine.
However, when Sea River Maritime acquired the unit; the barge was renamed as S/R New York . When the unit was acquired by K-Sea Transportation Partnership the barge was renamed as the DBL 140.
In 2011, K-Sea Transportation was acquired by the Kirby Corporation of Channelview, Texas, where the tug and barge retained her names.
