MODEL OF THE TANKER “LUCINA”
NAVIGATION RIPRODUTION OF A SUPER OIL TANKER 280.000 T.P.L. (V.L.C.C.)

Length 342 cm. - Width 52 cm.
DRAWINGS - Realized by the model constructor “Chantiers de l'Atlantique”, St. Nazaire (France) and the original
drawing have been reduced in scale.
THE HULL - The constrution and dimension have been realized by a special system of double hull, to leave the
internal structure free from and to avoid in time undesidered distortion.
SERVICE - Radio controled funtions 2 winchers for anchors, air cooling system for the smoke plant, 2 side
winchers form cable towing at the stem and stern. The siren is amplifyed by recorder on board.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - A group of (6x2v) batteries in the stem to supply all function. A group of (40 ampers)
batteries in the stern to supply power with 2,4,6 volts for the three rotation speeds of the propeller (92 mm. Dia.
In 5 different exemplary). A trird group of (12 v) in the stern for amplification of the siren.
TANKS - This model has 20 tanks (10 on the right side and 10 on the left side) with a capacity of 10 liters each one.
Built with 0,6 mm. Brass sheets riviterd and tin soldered. There is an external pump to fill and empty the tanks by 6
different filling (and emptyng) lines in three groups of tanks: 6tanks in the stern, 6 tanks in the stem and 8 tanks in the
center. With this system of loading the model can navigate with (180 kg) to a completate load of (320 kg) with perfect
longitudinal and trasversal level an also with a medium load. The total capacity load of the tanks is 205 liters.
NAVIGATION - Because of the dimensions and diplacement (full load 320 kg), the model has difficulty in manoeuvres in
waters like the original tanker (into due proportion), also in narrow waters (pools and small lakes) needs tobe assistered
by 3 tugboats scale 1:100; a 40 cm. coaster (propulsion driven propeller) and two dockers of 38 and 33 cm. (propeller
foith-Schneider) with push and tow manoevring.
