Hello Auke,
in November 2007, I e-mailed you asking if you could offer information on sailing as a passenger on large iron ore carriers. You were kind enough to give me the websites of two German companies that might be of some help.

Here is the story by Photo by Timothy Martin :
Well, I was able to secure a booking for a passage on the "Paradise N" on November 23, 2009, sailing from Ponta da Madeira, Brazil to Majishan / Qingdao, China. I sought this passage because of the distance. I embarked the vessel in Ponta da Madeira on November 22, and we got underway the next day, arriving at our first discharge port at Majishan on December 31. After a couple of days at anchor, we discharged half our cargo of iron ore and sailed 1 1/2 days to Qingdao, where we sat at anchor for five days before berthing, and my disembarking the vessel on January 10, 2010. She is an incredible ship, and I enjoyed the passage enormously.

The master of the "Paradise N," Captain H. Huth, gave me a CD with scores of pictures of the ship that were taken from an airplane off the coast of South Africa. The airplane was hired by the ship's owner, Reederei F. Laeisz to take pictures of their vessel for some type of marketing. I have attached some of these pictures for you to add to your website if you so desire. I don’t believe there are any issues with photo credits; however, I will let you make that decision. I have also attached one picture of the bridge that I took myself from the port bridge wing that you are more than welcome to use on your website if you like.
