ARRIVES FOR OUTFITTING
Quincy, Mass., Tugs guide the MISSION SAN FERNANDO a world war II T-2 tanker into dock at Fore River Shipyard in Quincy, Mass., today to be outfitted for tracking service for the Apollo Moon Shot Program under a $ 64 million contract. The MISSION SAN FERNANDO and two other tankers after outfitting will be deployed around the world to track and communicate with Apollo manned space vehicles destined to take U.S. astronauts to the moon and back. The contract was awarded to the General Dynamic Electric Boat Division in Quincy for conversion and outfitting of the tankers in early September.
