Keel laid 20-08-1942. Launched 09-12-1942. Completed 21-12-1942.Gr. 10195 t., Net. 6310 t., Dw. 16613 t. L.o.a. 159,57 m., Br. 20,78 m., Dr. 9,23 m. Engine: 2 steam turbines, manufactured by General Electric Company, Lynn, Massachussetts. 7240 B.h.p., 5401 kW. Speed 15 knots. 26 Tanks.

Launched as NEWTON-1942 for United States War Shipping Administration, Philadelphia, USA.
AO-75 SAUGATUCK-1942 Acquired by the Navy, 21 December 1942
AO-75 SAUGATUCK-1942 Converted for Naval service at Bethlehem Steel Co., Key Highway Plant, Baltimore, MD.
AO-75 SAUGATUCK-1942 Commissioned by the Navy, 19 February.
AO-75 SAUGATUCK-1946 Decommissioned, 17 March, at San Francisco, CA.
AO-75 SAUGATUCK-1946 Struck from the Naval Register, 5 June.
AO-75 SAUGATUCK-1946 Transferred, 9 October , to the Maritime Commission for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
