Norfolk, VA. The stern section of the American tanker "Pine Ridge", is shown buffeted by high seas and gale winds off Cape
Hatteras N.C. 12/21/60. The vessel was split two by "Monsrous seas", according to reports. Ten survivors have been
sighted on the stern and five in the water.

12-23-1960, Cape Hatteras, NO - Stern section of the tanker "Pine Ridge", her broken hull showing, wallows in
squalley sea as tug "Gurb"stands-by to pull section toport. Smoke from stack is only sign of live on "Pine Ridge",
there are men aboard. Ship broke up 100 miles off Cape Hatteras, 12-21-1960.

Newport News, VA. The stern secion of the "Pine Bridge", the illfated oil tanker, made port this morning,
flying her flag at half mast for the eight man, who were lost when the ship split into in heavy seas off
Gaps Hatteras N.C. The stern has been under tow for three days averaging 3 knots per hour.

 The tanker "Meadowbrook" was formed in 1962 from the aft section of the tanker "Pine Ridge", the
surplus forepart of the "Redstone" (Sun Yard No 469), a new midbody and the old midship house
of the T3-S-A1 tanker "Sachem (II)".

MEADOWBROOK-1983 for Chas. Kurz & Company Inc., Wilmington, Delaware, USA.

Reported Pine Ridge broke in two 21 Dec. 1960, 100 miles east of Cape Hatteras, whilst on voyage from New York to Corpus Christi, Texas, in ballast. Forepart capsized and sank, aft part towed into New York. Joined to new mid-section and bow section from REDSTONE, (Sun #469), in 1962 at Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Company and returned to service in 1962.
