SALVO WITHOUT GUNS
lnto her element slips the SS W.I..R. Emmet, the 100th tanker launched at the Swan Island yard at Kaiser Co., Inc.
It's an event with the punch of a naval broadside, for these ships already have delivered billions of gallons of gasoline and oil - fuel to power our machines at war on land, sea and in the air.
The fact that all of these 100 tankers - and, indeed, a substantial proportion of all ships built for the U. S. Maritime Commission - are powered with boilers designed and built by Combustion Engineering is evidence of the important role which C-E has been privileged to play in creating our vast wartime merchant fleet - a fleet that after the war will constitute the world's greatest merchant marine.

C-E INSTALLATIONS span the entire range of steam generating requirements from small stoker-fired boilers of less then 50 horsepower to the largest power station units.
