Maritime Commission contract at Marinship Corp, Sausalito, CA,
Launched, 25 August 1943
Chartered to Deconhill Shipping Co. for operations
Returned to the Maritime Commission, 27 April 1946, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve
Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
Acquired by the Navy, 15 October 1947, and placed in service with the Naval Transportation
Service (NTS) as Mission Purisma (AO-118)
Control transferred to the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS), 1 October 1949
and placed in service as USNS Mission Purisma (T-AO-118)
Placed out of service, struck from the Naval register and returned to the Maritime Commission, 16 May 1955,
for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Olympia, WA.
Reacquired by the Navy, 26 June 1956, and placed in service with MSTS
Placed out of service, struck from the Naval Register and returned the Maritime Administration, 4
December 1957, for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
