Keel laid 02-10-1944. Launched 07-12-1944. Completed 30-12-1944. Gr. 10172 t., Net. 6423 t., Dw. 16613 t. L.o.a. 159,57 m., Br. 20,78 m., Dr. 11,93 m. Engine: 2 steam turbines, manufactured by General Electric Company, Lynn, Massachussetts. 7240 B.h.p., 5401 kW. Speed 15 knots. 26 Tanks.
History:
ASH HOLLOW-1944 completed for United States War Shipping Administration, Mobile, Alabama, USA.
KIRKENES-1945 for Government of Norway, Oslo, Norway.
HIDLEFJORD-1947 for Skips A/S Hidlefjord, Kornelius Olsen, Stavanger, Norway.
OSWEGO TRANSPORTER-1959 for Canterbury Investments Ltd., Nassau, Bahamas.
Additional Reports:
Reported Oswego Transporter suffered generator and turbines damaged 22 Feb. 1960 off Peru and adrift in position 10.30 S / 78.41 W, whilst on voyage from Callao to Talara. Taken in tow for Callao. Declared a constructive total loss.
Reported Oswego Transporter sold to shipbreakers in Belgium. Arrived Antwerp 6 Sep. 1960 in tow of tug CLYDE to be broken up. [ By J. de Smedt ]
