History:
1943 - Laid down, as ONTONAGON, 10 May 1944, as a Maritime Commission type (T1-M-A2) tanker hull, under Maritime Commission (MC hull 1799) contract at East Coast Shipyards Inc., Bayonne, N.J.
1944 - ONTONAGON Acquired by the Navy from the Maritime Commission, 13 September 1944.
1944 - ONTONAGON (AOG-36) Commissioned, 21 September 1944.
1946 - ONTONAGON (AOG-36) Decommisioned, 27 February 1946, at Mangle, P.I.
1946 - ONTONAGON (AOG-36) Struck from the Naval Register, 12 March 1946.
1946 - ONTONAGON (AOG-36) Custody transferred, 27 April 1946, to the US Army Transportation Service (USATS)
1946 - ONTONAGON (Y-130) Commissioned, 27 April 1946, USAT Ontonagon (Y-130).
1950 - ONTONAGON (Y-130) Decommissioned by USATS and returned to Naval custody, 1 July 1950.
1950 - ONTONAGON (Y-130) Assigned to the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS)
1952 - ONTONAGON (T-AOG-36) Placed in service as USNS Ontonagon (T-AOG-36) in 1952
1954 - ONTONAGON (T-AOG-36) Placed out of service in June 1954.
1954 - ONTONAGON (T-AOG-36) Laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Olympia, WA., 14 December 1954.
1956 - ONTONAGON (T-AOG-36) Placed in service by MSTS, 26 April 1956.
1956 - ONTONAGON (T-AOG-36) Placed out of service, 25 September 1956, and Transferred to the Maritime Administration for lay up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA.
1957 - ONTONAGON (T-AOG-36) Struck from the Naval Register, 13 November 1957.
1964 - ONTONAGON Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 7 January 1964, to National Metals & Steel Corp. for $18,500.00, (PD-X-63 dated 11 December 1963). Withdrawn from the reserve fleet, 22 January 1964
