USS Ammonusuc (AOG-23) although delivered by her builder and commissioned in May 1944, she did not complete fitting out at the
New York Navy Yard and report for shakedown until August 1944. This was one of only a few early ships of this class that had an intermediate
armament in which one 40mm single on a tall stand forward was added to the original 1-3" aft and 4-20mm amidships.

1944 - AMMONUSUC (AOG-23) for United States Navy, Bayonne, New Jersey, U.S.A.
1948 - AMMONUSUC (AOG-23) Decommissioned, 4 June 1946, at New Orleans, LA.
1948 - AMMONUSUC (AOG-23) Sold in February 1948, and refitted for merchant service, renamed MT Providence.
1948 - PROVIDENCE for The Texas Company, Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A.
1962 - TEXACO PROVIDENCE- for The Texas Company, Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A.
1968 - DEAN REINAUR for Peerrless No. 5 Corporation, Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A.
CASUALTY REPORTS.
Reported PROVIDENCE lengthened in 1952.
Reported DEAN REINAUR suffered explosion and fire 30 dec 1969 at South Portland, Maine. Made into dumb barge, no further info.
Reported Final Disposition, acquired by Ecklof Marine Corp. Staten Island, N.Y., and stripped for spare parts before scuttling by explosives, 30 October 1990, on New Jersey's Garden State Reef
