Commission contract (MC hull 2559) at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard,

Commissioned USS Allagash (AO-97), 21 August 1945
Decommissioned, 21 December 1970, at Boston, MA.
Custody transferred to the Maritime Administration, 13 November 1971, for lay up in the National
Defense Reserve Fleet, James River, Fort Eustus, VA.
Struck from the Naval Register, 1 June 1973
Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 22 March 1976, to Union Minerals and Alloys Corp.
