 Bethlehem turbines, cross-compound, Falk reduction gears,  developing 7000SHP at 85RPM 15.0 knots
 Launched 10 July 1943 at Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, Sparrows Point, Maryland, by Mrs Anna Karlsson, widow
of Captain GO Karlsson, who engaged an enemy surface raider with his non-combatant ship STANVAC CALCUTTA, and
met his  death in the unequal struggle.
Commissioned 30 August 1943.
 SHABONEE Served under government requisition, first in the Atlantic and later in the Pacific. As well as a cargo of
Navy fiiel in her tanks, she also carried a fiiU cargo on deck: a typical load consisted of six P51 aircraft;, three P47s and five P38s. She
was released from war service in January 1946. In June 1952, returning fi-om a Persian Gulf pick-up, she lost her rudder in mid-Atlantic.
