Alcides
Steel 4-masted barque 2704 gross tons 106,000 cases.
Built 1892 at Grangemouth Dockyard, Scotland, for other owners and purchased by Anglo-American to carry case oil to China.
Not much is known about this vessel, except that she did her share of the work and got profitable backhauls for the homewardbound voyages.
She was sold in 1912 for £6000. At the end of WWI, world tonnage was so short that she was resold by her new owners for £66,750 !!
