Jade - ex Mobil Jade 1991
LOA 141.92 m; Beam 20.53 m; Draught 7.614 m; 13,339 DWT
Built by Schulte and Bruns, Emden, Germany, in 1975, powered by two Vee Oil 4SA engines, each 12 cylinders geared to a screw
shaft, developing 3000 BHP. Mobil Jade was jumboised in 1987 by Werft Nobiskrug GmbH.
Owned by Mobil Reederei GmbH, the vessel is ice strengthened, has 18 cargo tanks and is fitted with controllable pitch propeller and
bow thruster.
Built primarily for transporting clean products within northwest Europe, she supplied the Bremen terminal until the release of classified
aerial photographs taken during WWII allied bombing raids revealed large numbers of unexploded bombs within the terminal, which was
consequently closed indefinitely. Since then Mobil Jade has been employed on the "spot" market, transporting clean products for third
party charterers within a restricted geographical range compatible with her manning agreement.
She was renamed Jade in March 1991. Finally scrapped by Indian shipbreakers on the 29-4-2005.
