MOBIL FLAME, ex. SOVAC BRILLIANT 1955, ex. MOBIL BRILLIANT 1962

LOA 628 ', Beam 82 ' 8 ", Draught 32 ' 5 ", 27,008 SDW

Built 1949 by Sun Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company, Chester, Pennsylvania. Powered by a De Laval turbine developing 12,500HP.

She was an bareboat charter to Mobil for 15 years from her owners Tankers Navigation Company.

SOVAC BRILLIANT, with the others of her class, was mostly employed in lifting Kuwait crude out of Mena Al Ahmadi, Arabian crude

out of Has Tanura, or Iraqi crude out of Tripoli for our refinery at Paulsboro. In 1964 the vessel was redelivered to her owners and

renamed WORLD MERMAID.

She was converted in 1966 to a bulk carrier with six holds and 11 hatches and was strengthened for heavy cargoes. She was extended

to LOA 631 ' 6 ", 32,272 SDWT. She became OLIVIA in 1972. Broken up in 1978.
