"O.B. Jennings", with temporarily repairs after her collision with the "War Knight" March 1981.
she is one of the Standard Oil Company's fleet.
She was later sunk by a German submarine off the U.S. Atlantic coast.

Picture of the "O.B.Jennings" on fire in Sandown Bay, Isle of Wight. If you look carefully you can just see the aft of the ship,
with smoke coming out of the funnel ! It doesn't show much of the ship unfortunately, but at least it gives a good idea of
what an intense and terrifying fire this must have been.
The "O.B. Jennings" had colided with the "War Knight", on March 24 in 1918.
36 sailors of the "War Knight" lost their lives and 1 sailor of the "O.B. Jennings".

The second photograph is a picture of Sub Flight Lt ELLIOTT walking downhill from viewing the fire.
This was probably taken on Culver Down which would have been a great vantage point to view the fire.

The O.B. Jennings was built in 1917.
Like here 6 sisters she was buil by Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company.
Colided with the "War Knight", on March 24 in 1918, abanded, salvaged, but repaired.
Lost after being captured, shelled and sunk by U 140, on 4 Aug 1918.

The 7 by Standard Oil of New Jersey ordered ships, to be built by Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company,
Newport News VA, were;
